Long time, no blog

I have decided to return to the blogging  world! It really has been too long.
I continue to work with "Tin Razor" on Fun Rides Bike Nights creating video of our adventures. We actually have a website now.
I've been doing a bit of writing for a local publication as a way to express myself and my stories in print. Perhaps it's time to bring my words out more frequently but I'll let you be the judge of that.
Peace and "Wanderings" for you all!

February? Already?

It takes 32 shovelful of snow to get to my garage. (Not counting clearing enough ice from in front of the door to get it open) Once I have the door open, there she sits. Ready to take me for the ride of my life.

Have you ever thought about the simple pleasures in life that are so near and yet so far from being available at the particular time when you most need an escape from the daily pressures that it makes you want to just sit and stare out the window?

Aside from the enjoyment I get from spending time with my wife and family, riding my "Sweet Glide" is about the best feeling for me. It is just the joy of riding in the wind with only my thoughts to guide me.

Ah, but it is February in northwest Ohio and all of the fun of riding has been taken from me for now. I am so looking forward to the day when all of the snow and slush has disappeared from the roads and I can get my bike revved up and rolling out of my driveway onto the road.

I will continue to dream.

Winter Blues

Now that another year has past (Happy 2011, by the way), it is time to create more words of wisdom. I had considered the fact that no one is actually reading my blog; with the exception of my wife, but I went forward with this current post in hopes that I might be inspired to write again.

This is the time of year when most "sane" people put the motorcycles away. Some are cozy in the dealerships vast warehouses, others are under tarp. Heck, I saw a few new fancy ideas where the motorcycle actually is placed inside an air-inflated bubble!

Where is my bike you ask? My bike is wheels on the pavement, battery on charge, and ready to ride. I sometimes get the blues and it really helps to go for a nice cruise to help take away the strains and pressures of life to just wander for a bit. (There's that word, Wander again.)

Perhaps I misspoke when I said "most sane people" because, when you think about it, what is so crazy about riding a motorcycle in winter? The same could be stated that when it is a hundred degrees no sane person would subject themselves to the sun and heat just to go for a ride, now would they?

Suffice it to say, to each their own. I just know that of all the bikers I know there is not one who would be critical if I said I needed to go for a ride, regardless of the weather. Let's keep the blues at bay this winter, shall we?

Snow blanketing the area

When you look out towards the street/road, do you wonder when the snow will give way to sunshine bouncing off the pavement? I do.

I really don't dislike snow so much that I wish it gone immediately but there are some things that I could be doing (like riding) that makes me wish for warmer days. Patience really is not my strongest trait.

Stay strong!

I really do not know why it takes me so long to post a new entry. I guess it is because I am either too busy or just have trouble choosing my words to get started but here is my next post

I finally reached my goal of travelling to over 26 differant cities in Ohio by completing the A,B.C s of Touring. I chose to ride to each city, stop in front of the post office, take a picture of my bike with the current issue of the HOG magazine, and then ride off to the next city. It took me a little over 4000 miles around Ohio while I got used to the bike. For my efforts I hope to receive a patch and a pin from the Harley Owners Group.

Believe it or not, it is very relaxing for me to ride a motorcycle through highways, back roads, and city streets. Sometimes I had a friend riding along but for the most part I travelled alone with my thoughts. The opportunity to see differant scenery from the road is very enlightening.

For now the bike is resting in the garage but you can be sure if there is a day where the temperatures reach 50 degrees, I will be out there.

First Time for Everything

Well, you can probably guess from the title that I am a newbie to blogging. My wife has actually been blogging for some time now. I was just waiting for the right thing to inspire me to write.

Before I begin my new quest, there are a few things about me that I would like to share. 1. I try to live my life without any "regrets". I know that sounds like I am calculating and evaluating risk before I do anything but it is actually the opposite. If I don't like how something turns out, I can't go back and change it so I have learned that I am responsible and I have to accept whatever occurs and move forward.

Secondly, I have always said that "I have never met anyone that I did not like; there are just some people I learn to like less". I honestly believe that everyone has value but perhaps they I need to look for the good in them. It is not my place to judge anyone so I just have to remember that I am not the person who manages other peoples thoughts and opinions. As you probably can guess, I am an optimist.

There you have it, my first post. I hope that you can learn to like me more ( or less) If you come back, I promise to become more entertaining!
